Doctor’s Orders

Hello Fellow Book Enthusiasts, welcome to my blog.

I am a fourth-year medical student and a rabid reader of young adult novels.

While looking for new books to devour, I have found that it is difficult to find good spoiler-free reviews for young adult novels. I also didn’t see many reviews that talked about who should read the book, trigger warnings, and other important information that people should know before cracking open a book; so I decided to start this blog to have a place where I could review the books that I love and hopefully provide some insight into the book before you start it!

I also believe it’s important to know what the next generation is reading and I wanted to write reviews that were for both teens and their parents with information about potential triggers and mature content so readers could decide if they were comfortable with the material in the novels.

For every book, I will have several sections, set up in the style of medical information (get it because I’m a doctor). Here is what you will see:

Uses: this is where I will explain who the audience for this book is and who might/might not be comfortable reading the book.

Contraindications/Cautions: This is where I will explain who should not read this book and I will try to give a comprehensive overview of trigger warnings, so people who might be triggered can avoid the book.

Side Effects: This is where I will explain what lasting effects you can expect from this book. For me, this usually includes obtaining a new book boyfriend or drowning in a pool of my own tears.

As I get started I will probably write reviews for books that I have already read and add them to the Archive. Hopefully starting soon I will start adding reviews of recently released books.

Thanks for joining me, I hope this blog is helpful and informative!
